Having More Than One Blog: Good or Bad?

Do you have a blog or personal website on the internet? Since a couple years ago, blog has been so popular among the people that today almost everybody has his own blog. Some people create blog and function it just like his diary or daily journal. They write their daily’s experiences, even small things such as what they eat at lunch and where they go on weekend. However, some others write more serious topics. No matter what the people write on their blogs, it is obvious that blog becomes today’s people lifestyle.
Now, let me ask you how many blog you have. I have seven blogs (or personal website if you want to call them so), excluding my facebook account (because some people consider it microblog). How about you? You have more than one blog just like I do? Or you only have one? Or you haven’t had any? If the latest is your answer, I recommend that you should create one immediately. If you don’t do it, some people probably will call you an old-fashioned person. Do you want to be called so?
In condition that someone has more than one blog, how does he make everything work? This is what I will focus on in this post.

First of all, someone having more than one blog has to answer what will each of the blogs contain. Certainly there may be so many answers for the question. Some have different blogs for different topics. Each blog is dedicated for particular topic. As a result, each blog can focus on only one topic – just like a specialist. And it is believed that people prefer such specialist-blogs to all-in-one blogs. The reason is so simple: because internet is in front of them. Any page in any topic is available on the internet. All sorts of information and knowledge are there. The people don’t need a blog in which all topics are covered. Instead, they want to visit some specialist-blogs, based on their need. Such blogs are preferred because they tend to give deeper and more detailed information.
I created some of my blogs this way. I have menaraislam.com for islamic topics, iptekita.com for science and technology, syahadahfc.wordpress.com for soccer, and mechanicals.wordpress.com for mechanical engineering. Certainly it’s quite hard to maintain all the blogs. And I have to admit that some of the blogs are not well-enough maintained. It’s time issue (common answer to tell people why you can’t do something). Forgive me, please.
Some other people, in contrast, prefer all-in-one blog. They write everything on his only-one blog. They just create some categories. Each of the categories contain a particular topic. Visiting this kind of blogs is like having one-stop shopping. You can find various stuffs in one store only. And for the blog’s owner, it’s certainly easier to maintain the blog, because he only needs one login to get into all of his stuff. However, information given in such blogs – in many cases – are not deep and detailed enough. They tend to be generalists instead of specialists.
Not only having some specialist-blogs, I also have some generalist-blogs (I say SOME, meaning that I have more than one). Wow, it’s awesome! Yes, of course. I have three generalist-blogs, written in three different languages. I have abdurrosyid.wordpress.com (written in Indonesian), abdorasheed.wordpress.com (written in English – the blog you are reading right now), and 3abdorasheed.wordpress.com (written in Arabic).
How about you, guys? What many blogs do you have? And what kind of blogs are they? You are that who has the answer.
The second thing that may occur when you have more than one blog is… Guess what? Look, when you have three generalists-blogs like I do – or more -, you may experience some confusion if you have an idea to write. I will give you an example. When I have an idea and I want to write it down on my blog, I am often confused where to write it down. Should I write it down on my Indonesian blog, or on my English blog, or on my Arabic blog? All are certainly possible, and this is what makes me confused. Yes, too many choices always result in confusion.
You probably have more than one blog: one in wordpress and another one in blogspot. If this is your case, you also may experience confusion when you want to write down your idea. Should you use your wordpress blog? Or your blogspot one? You have to deal with the confusion.
How you will solve this problem is up to you. There must be many possible ways to do something, mustn’t it? I hope you can solve it the best way.
